The Board of Directors would like to introduce ourselves, and thank you for your participation in the Fairport Soccer Club:

Jeff Alexander (Soccer Development)

Jeff has served on the Board for 4 years and coached for the past 4 years, and has also been on the tournament steering committee for 4 years. He has a child who plays on a U17 team: “Our kids are not just learning and enjoying soccer, but hopefully adding to their personal growth as well. It’s a privilege to be part of this club, and this community.”

Joanne Barker (Registration, Risk Management, Managers, Club Store, Tournament Committee)

Joanne is in her 9th year with the club, 4th year on the Board. She has two children, playing on U14 and U17 teams: “This has been a great learning experience for my kids, they have made many friends and so have I. I want to see the club continue to grow and provide a venue for future youth to enjoy the game of soccer.”

Brian Black (Director of Boys Soccer Development)

Brian joined the Board of Directors in 1999. He has a child who plays on the U16 team: “My goal is for a positive club environment for the children of our community, and that as their ability develops, so does their enjoyment of the game.”

Steve Boulet (Director of Girls Soccer Development)

Steve has served on the Board for 7 years. He has 2 kids, playing for U16 and U19 teams: “I would like FSC to continue to provide a soccer-based environment where kids thrive and succeed, and they know the club is very supportive of them as people.”

Dan Clifton (Volunteer Coordinator)

Dan has been with FSC for just over a year, served on the tournament committee last year, and has kids in the U10 and Micro programs: “I hope to be a voice on the Board for some of the younger families, and to help to continue the vision and values of the club, and promote its growth in the community.”

Lou DiGuiseppe (Operations)

Lou has been on the Board for 4 years and has a child playing at the U17 level. His responsibilities include field maintenance reps, goal assembly and disassembly, and field lining. He is the club’s chairperson for: scheduling; game change process; interfacing with town and school officials for field allocations and field usage; interfacing with Fairport Lacrosse. He also oversees the uniform order process and equipment, supplies, distribution and ordering process for coaches bags to ensure our coaches and players have the tools needed to perform their tasks: “I would like to see FSC have the best facilities and fields. Let’s give our kids the best training and coaching to ensure they stay with our club.”

Jeff Fuhrman (Club Vice-President, Communications, Resourcing)

Jeff has been with the club for 6 years and has a child at the U14 level. This is his 5th year on the Board of Directors: “At some deep level the reason soccer snags us is that good soccer is beautiful. This is our game, FSC.”

Micros, U8, U9, U10: You are our future. Try, Learn, Develop, Enjoy.

Older Players: Appreciate each other. These are great days for you to be part of a team, so bring it for the sake of the team. And don’t forget to say thanks to your coaches…and to your parents/guardians.

Newer Coaches and Managers: You have stepped up and we thank you. Please remember, it’s a good thing to ask for help.

Seasoned Coaches and Managers: How about pulling alongside a newer coach or manager when you can? We thank you for giving your time and talent to this club. We appreciate all you do.

Parents: Volunteer, there’s nothing like it! There are fields to line, nets to fix, a tournament to staff, a club store to run and a team manager who probably needs a hand. We hope you’re stirred to be part of what FSC is.

We hope our children will someday remember, ‘I was part of something bigger than me and it was good.’ Imagine our kids with their own kids involved in a travel soccer club. They still love the game, so they coach or ref or manage or cheer or work on drills at home with the players they love. Our kids’ kids playing soccer, that would be just beautiful.

Karen Hoff (Club Treasurer)

This is the Hoff family’s 6th year with the club, including the micro program.  Karen’s husband coaches a U11 Boys team.  She has 2 sons playing, one at at U11 and one at U9.  Karen brings great energy and vision to the Board:

“I really appreciate that the boys can play fun, but competitive soccer essentially in their backyards and with their school friends. The soccer families become our 2nd family throughout the spring and summer. The dues may feel high when you pay them, but when you consider the 9 month season and you witness the growth in their skills from year to year and you think of all the fun that 2nd family provides for them as players and us as parents…. it is such a great deal!  I am joining the board to get an appreciation for what it takes to deliver a great soccer program to Fairport. I hope to enhance the strong team (board) that is already in place and to help  things run smoothly and efficiently. As Treasurer I hope to ensure the members are getting the most for their money.”

Mike Nelson (Club President, Soccer Development, Public Relations)

Mike started coaching 9 years ago, and he has 2 kids in the club (U13 and U9.) This is his 5th year on the Board of Directors: “My vision is to make FSC a fun organization that is more than just soccer, “FSC, it’s not just soccer.” I would like to make soccer a community activity in which the players and parents have a connection that goes beyond the soccer. Connections in the form of team building activities such as camping, swimming, laser tag…where the kids make friends for life. Ultimately it would be great for FSC to have a home with our own outdoor and indoor facilities.”

Gary Ritzmann (Soccer Development)

This is Gary’s 3rd year on the Board and 9th year with FSC. He has been a head coach for years, and was an assistant coach for 3 years. He has 3 kids playing at the U10, U14, U17 levels: “My hope is to survive the BOD and FSC with my family in one piece and my knees not replaced!”

Steve Stokes (Soccer Development)

Steve has been with the club for 6 years, this is his 5th year on the Board. He has a child who plays on a U12 team: “We are one of the largest clubs in the area and try hard to provide a good environment for all kids to play soccer who want to play. The dedication of the board and volunteers work very hard at making this happen and rarely get recognized for the fine job they do. We always need more help, so if you want to get involved please let us know.”
