Tournament Volunteers
The 2010 FSC Tournament is to be held July 9-11, 2010, and will be here before you know it! As you know, each family in the club is responsible for helping out at the tournament, and we are counting on you to participate.
The sign up process will be completed through this website. Each family (parent or guardian) must visit this website during volunteer sign up time to identify the players in their family as well as sign up for their first and second choice volunteer assignments. Please sign up even if you happen to be on vacation that week as we have volunteer positions that can be completed prior to the tournament. We will be tracking each player and family in the club in order to assign volunteer positions equitably.
Head coaches and their families are not required to volunteer at the tournament. Everyone else, including managers, assistant coaches & FSC board members will be assigned to work up to 2 two-hour shifts, with the exception of the tournament committee, as they will be volunteering for the entire weekend.
We greatly appreciate for your service to the club and your community!
Important Information For Parents:
- Volunteer sign-up time on the Fairport Soccer website begins Friday, May 21 and ends Sunday, June 6.
- Volunteer sign-ups and assignments are made per family rather than per adult or child. Each family is asked to sign up once and will be given one or two 2-hour shifts.
- Please sign up with your preferences so that we can take them into consideration when putting together the volunteer schedule. Families who do not sign up will still be assigned duties.
- Volunteer assignments are never scheduled during your child’s /children’s games.
- Prior to the tournament start, the club web site will be used to post all volunteer jobs and shift times.
- Please review the job descriptions below to help identify areas you where you would like to volunteer.
- Every attempt will be made to accommodate your preferences, but the tournament committee is responsible to ensure all volunteer positions are filled. As a result, you may be assigned to a position you didn’t choose.
We greatly appreciate for your service to the club and your community!

Field Marshal: The job of the Field Marshals is to make sure the fields are in good playing condition and that the teams and referees are present for an on-time start. During the games, they are the primary communications link to tournament headquarters for maintenance and emergencies, using their personal cell phone. After the games, the official game cards need to be immediately returned for scoring. Field Marshals need to check in 30 min. prior to their scheduled volunteer time where they are given a binder with instructions and assigned game field(s). Field Marshals may be assigned to work at any of the tournament locations. We need more than 10 people per 2-hour shift.

Medical: The Fairport Volunteer Ambulance Corps will provide primary first aid coverage, but we need a limited number of qualified volunteers to help as well. If you are a nurse, a doctor, or an EMT and are willing to assist in the first aid tent, we need a few volunteers to provide coverage at the beginning and end of each day.
Overnight Security: Having a few people on-site 24 hours a day provides a sense of security to the HQ area and eliminates the need to pack up the tournament site each night. This position requires a flashlight and gets the most requests from veterans who volunteer to do it again with the same “Security Team.” It is a fun job, it just has odd hours. Six, 2-hour shifts will be scheduled for Friday and Saturday Nights, starting at 8 PM going through the night. The 8-10 p.m. shifts also police the grounds and pick up/empty trash containers. The 6 - 8 a.m. shifts will assist the club store to get set up for the day. They also will help set up fields, corner flags on fields, etc where needed.
Parking: Directing traffic, helping people find convenient parking spaces, and sporting a florescent orange vest are some of the benefits enjoyed by parking volunteers. Parking volunteers help attendees find spots primarily on the Martha Brown hill and make sure the flow of traffic is safe and orderly.
Roving Raffle Tickets and Concession Sales: Must be enthusiastic and persuasive go-getters! Position may entail driving golf cart (must be over 18), walking around fields, or manning a table selling raffle tickets and water. Fun and easy!
Registration: Assist tournament committee in registering teams by checking required documentation and handing out brochures and schedules. Although you won’t be assigned to all 4 sessions, please indicate your availability for the following days and times:
Special Events: Volunteers are needed to run the shoot-out event for the U10 and younger players. Volunteers are also needed to get the awards ready for presentation after the championship games. These jobs will take place at Fairport High School.
Tournament Teardown: Work with tournament committee staff to remove all items from the site(s) and pack away, organize and prepare for storage as necessary. Pick up trash from the remote sites and bring trash cans, flags, etc back to HQ. Load the truck, transport the items back to the shed and put away in an organized manner. If you are assigned this position, it will fulfill your family’s obligation for the tournament.
Volunteer Pool: Can’t decide which position is right for you? Let us decide on the spot by joining the volunteer pool! This position requires you to report to HQ for your assignment. Here you will be asked to help out in any areas that are in need at the moment (Concessions, Parking, Field Marshal, on-going clean-up, etc.) at any of the tournament locations.
